Bitter Sweet

Welp, today was my last day at Rosecrance.  It was nice to know how appreciated I was by the many people I’ve worked with the past three years.  I wish everyone the best there at Rosecrance.  I’m happy to move on though at the same time.  It was a good 3 year run, but that was enough.  It was pretty ridiculous the last year and a half.  Just too much politics and dictatorship going on. But that’s all I have to say about that.

Now on to bigger and better things in life.  AZ!

Why I'm PRO Health-Care Reform (i.e. Public OPTION)

Never have I been so heart felt about something in a long time.  And even then, the things I’ve been heart felt about have been pretty trivial when compared to this.  A buddy from work and I have been debating about health-care reform and why we believe differently.  He’s anti-government and totally free market.  I’m not pro-government but I see a valid reason to include them as a tool to correct what’s been broken for a long time.

I’ve listed a bunch of different examples of why I believe having a public option is the right way to go.  Continue Reading

Slumdog FML!

Man what a trauma.  My wife and I went to the local video store Family Video to rent some movies, seven to be exact, and one of those movies we picked out was Slumdog Millionaire.  Sunday night we started to watch the movie in our bedroom on our little T.V. but we couldn’t hear it very well and didn’t want to wake the kids in their room right next to us so we decided we’d watch it another night.  Two nights roll by and we decide that we’ll watch it in the basement.  So I run upstairs, in our bedroom, and grab it out of the DVD player.  On my way down I stop in the kitchen, grab a quick drink and then continue to the basement.  I put in the DVD and… what’s this!?  The Messengers?

Ok.  So I go back upstairs into the kitchen and look around and I can’t find it.  I run back up to the 2nd floor and search around for it and I can’t find it.  I find it really weird that I just pulled it out of the one DVD player and put it in my DVD player in the basement and it somehow turned into this new movie.  WTF?  So for the next two days we’re freaking out because we can’t find it and we have to return the movies the next day.  What’s really weird is that we cant figure out how the DVD The Messengers got in the bedroom DVD player.  If you’ve seen the movie The Messengers you know it’s a scary movie.  And if you’ve seen any recent 2000’s scary movies this is almost as if we’re living in one of these movies.  The scary movie is in the bedroom DVD and the other DVD is no where to be found.  As I said, WTF?

So Kathy calls me today and says, “I found it!”  Immediately I respond with, “where was it” knowing exactly what she was referring to.  “In the cupboard with the cups,” she replied.  I started thinking, how in the hell did it get in there.  But after a few minutes it dawned on me that I must have grabbed a cup from the cupboard and placed the DVD in there not thinking about it.  After I got my drink I grabbed the first DVD I saw, which was sitting just underneath the cupboard of cups, and I went downstairs with it.

The moral of the story is, “Pay attention dumbass!”

A night out with JT

Last night I had a really good time hanging out with JT and friends.  Eric Balderree, and Emory Bullock joined the crew along with JT’s Dad and Mom, Brother and long time Friend Jason.  It’s really cool to meet everyone for the first time.  Everyone is very hospitable and really easy to get along with.  We went to the Gaslamp Strip Club, which is a steak house where you cook your own food.  It’s a very cool place.  We later went to a sports bar / bowling alley where we met up with Dirty Dirty, Daniel Finley and his cool brother Jarred.  I’ve got some pictures over on my Flickr site of our activities.  Just click the link on the right side of the page.

Twitter me!

For anyone who wants to keep track of my tweets, you now have the option of reading my updates right from my site.  If you look on the right column (scroll down a bit), you’ll see my five most recent posts.  This way you don’t have to go to twitter to see what I’m doing.  If you want to contribute to twitter, of course you’ll need to go to twitter, or use the app for your phone if it supports it.

Don't forget your underwear!

So I’m getting ready tonight to go to San Diego on Friday for one of my good friends wedding and I have made a list of things to bring.  The one thing I forgot to write down was of course my underwear.  Good thing my wife’s around.  She’s always thinking that woman.  Now my rooms a mess because I was looking for select pieces of clothing and in the process have torn down all the unorganized clothes on the top shelf in my closet.  Now that the shelf is all but clear I guess I have to put stuff back up there, so I’ll organize it.

I’m so looking forward to seeing my old buddies from the Navy.  It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve last seen them.  It should be some good times.

WTF?

WTF?

I hope to publish some of my activities here on my site so I can keep my family updated with what’s going on out there.  It should be a lot of fun.  I plan on taking a lot of compromising pictures of everyone else.  It’s only good pictures of me… or so I hope.  I just hope my bum back decides to cooperate with me.  I’m not looking forward to the plane trips due to the crap my backs giving me.  I gonna ask for an emergency seat and hope for the best.

Here’s a pick of the not ghey friend that’s soon to be wedded (he’s the one on the right in the pretty flowery dress):

Not only do I get to see my buddies from the Navy, I’m also going to be visiting my Aunt and one of my best friends from days of old.  Chris you better be ready to rock when I get out there!  I’m just sayin’.

My wife and I and kids are planning a trip into Chicago tomorrow after work to stay the night in a Super 8.  I don’t want to have to wake up at ass-crack thirty to drive into Chicago to be at the terminal 2 hours early.   Thankfully the Super 8 has a shuttle to the airport so my wife doesn’t have to get confused with all the odd traffic at the airport.

If any of you guys are reading my site, from San Diego, please let me know of some good places to go to get souvenirs so I can send some home.  Note to self, get some for Wife, Kids, Mom, Dad, Anna, Kirk, John, Tony, Jason P, oh and self too!

See you soon San D!

Janesville AirFEST

Blue Angel

Blue Angel

I’ve not been to the Janesville AirFEST before, but we went today and it was pretty cool.  We were there for the last part of the show, and today was the last day.  The US Navy Blue Angels were there, and they were very cool to watch.  Now of course I’ve seen them before, but there’s a certain honor in what they do.  I’ve been out of the Navy for 9 years now and it’s still killer to see military operations and the showmanship that goes along with it.  Now I know it’s more show than ops, but nonetheless it’s still pretty cool too see.  The kids had a lot of fun.  We got Damian a model Blue Angel plane ($10), and Jenna a blow up Blue Angel plane ($4).  We spent $34 to get into the show, $15/person for the show, and $2/person for the shuttle.  Ok, so now were up to $48.  Oh yeah, we bought two frozen lemonades for $4 a peice, so for the whole show, we spent $56 dollars.  I usually don’t obsess over the cost of doing things like this, probably because we don’t go out like this ever, but I ran the numbers just now and MAN, that’s a lot of money.  Oh well, it was fun.  I posted some pics of the show on Flickr.  They were taken with my Blackberry, so they aren’t the best quality, but they’re alright.

After the show, we came back and the kids wanted to swim, so Kathy got them dressed in their swim wear and of course I got pictures of them playing in the pool too.  OK, I’ve been working on this for hours now, panning back and forth between T.V. and this.  I guess that means I’m done for now.

Trip to San Diego

Ok, Jeshua got back to me and indicated that the locations were good.  So for those of you who will be showing, go to the pointy, red arrow thing when you’re in San D and you know you’re in the right place.  No, seriously, Jared and Marc, if you decide to read this, hit me up and let me know what you’re plans are for a vehicle.  I’m thinking of renting a car but Jeshua made a good point to get with you guys first to see what you’re doing.  So shoot me an email when ever  you can.

Sorry this post isn’t more for the masses, but I’m planing a trip and need a central place for communication.

Street Fighter IV Tourney pt2

Street Fighter 4

OK, ok.  I know that I had planned on setting up another Street Fighter IV tourney a month or 2 after my first one.  I know a lot of people had a lot of fun at the last one.  I know that I didn’t get a hold of everyone that showed up, especially the winner (Todd) of the tourney.  Read the title, I’m BUSY!  Ok, so I plan on setting up a new tourney here very soon.  I’m thinking July will be the next month.  I will try to have it setup for the 3rd Saturday.  I will know for sure in the near future.  I’ll post more when the time comes.
